Captain Marvel graces Entertainment Weekly, reveals plot
Entertainment Weekly reveals their Captain Marvel cover today with some new details about the plot of the movie.
"Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel sidesteps the traditional origin-story template, and when it begins, Carol already has her powers. She’s left her earthly life behind to join an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law’s enigmatic commander.”
They also confirm that the Skrulls will play a larger role and Ben Mendelsohn to play Talos:
“But before long, Carol finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past. And she’s got a formidable enemy in the form of the Skrulls — the notorious Marvel baddies made all the more dangerous by their shape-shifting abilities. Ben Mendelsohn plays their leader Talos, who spearheads a Skrull invasion of Earth.”
In the comics, Talos the Tamed is a Skrull who cannot shapeshift. However, the mutation that left him unable to shapeshift gave him enormous strength. The question now is if the MCU version of Talos will stick from its comics origin.
Set in the 1990s, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes Captain Marvel after the Earth is caught in the center of an intergalactic conflict between two alien worlds. Captain Marvel opens on March 08, 2019.
