Stan Lee headlines inaugural ComicCon Asia 2018 in Manila

Get ready Philippines, as a new regional event will bring the iconic comic superstar, Stan Lee in our shores through ComicCon Asia 2018 this March 24 and 25 at SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.


Lee, who is known for his famous comic book characters such as the superhero team the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Thor among others, will be in Manila as announced during the media launch of ComicCon Asia last Wednesday night.

Apart from the comic book legend, NBA superstar Ray Allen, and Walter Jones, known to many as the Black Ranger from the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers from the early 90s will be headlining the event.

  • Linda Le (Vampy Bit Me), award-winning international cosplayer
  • Nana Kuronama, cosplayer
  • Jay Tablante, cosplay photographer
  • Anna Redei (Enji Night), cosplayer

  • Carlo Pagulayan, comic book artist
  • Armand Serrano, Walt Disney's Visual Development Artist
  • Ian Sta. Maria, comic book artist
  • Jesse Yu (J*RYU), craftsman
  • Yael Yuzon, artist
  • Carlo Calimon of Startup Village, entrepreneur
  • Dr. John Lent, publisher and author from Temple University
  • Toni Masdiono, lecturer from Indonesian School of Design
  • Ganesha Bobo, comic artist
  • Nguyen Thang Phong, Vietnamese comic pioneer
  • Jerry Hinds, president of The Association of Comic Artists Singapore
  • Adi Nazri, founder of Malaysia's Komic Kapalooza
ComicCon Asia Event Producer, Pauline Sofia Laping opens and discusses the event's format and promises to bring something fresh for the Pinoy con-goers.


Sen. Manny Pacquiao graces the event as the ambassador of Philippine Tourism and a renowned boxer, basketball player, and gamer as well and encourages everyone to support the event.


Afterwards, Michael Dacanay, Ray Allen's representative to the launch, gave Sen. Pacquiao a token from Allen.


The two-day event will feature competitions (Project X: The Search for the New Pinoy Superheroes, One Shot, The Great Filipino Graphic Novel, Cosplay Match-Up), discussions and workshops from industry professionals and bids (Auction Hero and Trading Guild).







ComicCon Asia is where the best of the region's comics, movies, series, manga, anime, toys, gaming, and cosplay all come together in a massive arena of fandom explosion. Giving con-goers entertainment beyond the usual fan experience, making it a regional industry convention geared at giving Filipino creators global exposure, support, and guidance.

TV actresses and hosts Regine Tolentino and Diana Meneses who dressed up as Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman, respectively hosted the launch.


Tickets are available at one-day (P800) and two-day (P1300) passes which will be available on January 25 through www.comiccon.asia.
